When I moved my mouse to wake my screen back up I was at the lock screen, clicked into the password box (currsor appeared) and began to type, nothing was being entered. In my case Ubuntu put my monitor into power save mode. However in my case I didn't have to fully suspend the computer.
I'm new to the Ubuntu community, however I just experienced this behavior from Unity.
